Creativity Time

I LOVE this idea! And I have the perfect spot on the nursery wall where I wanted to find a clock to put there anyway... maybe if this boy stays put for a few days, this could be a DIY project to keep me occupied!

The Latest

I had my 39 week appointment today and here are the stats... that as usual, really don't mean much: 2 centimeters dilated, 60% effaced, baby is head down but still pretty high. But at least the cramps & contractions this weekend weren't completely in vain.

I did find out that the only day my doctor is on call this week is Wednesday... (yet another reason why that day, 7-8-9, would be perfect!) :) But really, any of the other doctors in the practice would be just fine.

I did something I've never done before today. I was in the exam room (undressed from the waist down of course) and it seemed to be taking an unusually long time. I looked at my phone and saw that I had been sitting there for 35 minutes. I remembered Carletta telling me how one time she sat and waited for over an hour only to find out they had accidentally forgotten her... so I told myself I'd wait 5 more minutes, and then since I couldn't step out the door without getting redressed, I'd just use my cell phone to call the front desk. No one showed up, so I called. I didn't want to seem impatient, but I couldn't hear anyone in the hallway and I hated to sit there if they had forgotten me. The receptionist told the nurse and she popped in and said it would be just a few more minutes. Sure enough, the doctor came in shortly and she was really sweet and apologetic, and I told her it was no problem... so it all worked out. :) Sitting undressed for 40 minutes on an exam table with your legs dangling and no back support isn't exactly comfortable anytime, let alone when you're 39 weeks pregnant!

Mobile Updates

I always thought you had to have a pricey web-browsing plan on your cell phone in order to update things like your blog or Facebook from your phone... and I'm just not quite that high-tech. But I just discovered that you can send text & picture messages as long as you have a texting plan... which I do! So... when BabyW decides to make his grand entrance, we should be able to update everyone from the hospital here and on Facebook! Fancy, huh? Now Grandmas & Nana... don't worry... we will of course still call you when we're headed to the hospital! But at least this way we should be able to update everyone else on our exciting news sooner! Plus, Mike and I are both getting new free cell phones this week that make texting and sending pictures and videos much easier, so we'll have fun testing them out! He's getting the LG Vu, and I'm getting the LG Xenon in Red. Hopefully we'll have them charged and figured out before BabyW comes!

Moving on...

Well, no July 4th baby! That's okay, I'd have to say as much as it would have been fun to have him this weekend, I'm glad he'll get to have a birthday that's not also a holiday. So we're still just waiting. I have had a few sporadic contractions this weekend, but nothing anywhere near consistent. Just a couple on one day, then maybe one the next. I'm sure it's accomplishing something... but of course we still have no idea what day will be "the day."

Tomorrow will be my last Monday of going into work... for a very, very long time. That is definitely an awesome thought. I might still be working next Monday, but it will be from home... and then after that, I'll be out on Maternity leave for 6 weeks, going back 2 days a week for the next 10 weeks and then that's probably it. It's a little weird considering I've worked full-time for the last 8 years, and every summer before that when I was in school. But it's a season that I am not sad to see end. I'm excited about getting to devote my time to being a mom.... and to having the freedom to be involved in more ministry opportunities as well. It's definitely going to require some sacrifices... considering that we're about to cut our income in half, but it's worth it to us. God will provide all that we need and we are excited about this new season of trusting Him!

Yay for a Long Weekend!

I'm so glad we have tomorrow off work and it's a long holiday weekend!! It sure would be convenient if BabyW decided to come tonight or tomorrow... but somehow I doubt it. :) We don't have any big plans for the weekend... just going to try to relax and stay cool. I'm sure grilling out with family will happen at some point, and we may try to go see Transformers. But nothing that couldn't wait if this boy would just decide to come! :) He's not giving me any signs yet though... he must be too comfortable in here. I have this feeling he'll wait and be a latecomer... but who knows! Maybe he'll surprise me! Let's hope so!

38 weeks!

July is finally here and we have exactly 2 weeks until BabyW is officially due! Here's a 38 week photo... since I've been taking pictures every 2 weeks... maybe this will be the last prego one!!! Wouldn't that be nice! I sure hope I don't have a 41 week photo! :)

Today's Drama

 

UPDATE: They let us go... We have been evacuated and told not to return to the building today. It's on News Channel 3, but basically there was a suspicious powder mailed in a package and 4 people in the mailroom got some rash so it's being investigated. Of course it is the one day of the month that I have a big project... so rather than just enjoying the afternoon off, I'm working from home! Oh well... :)

Have I ever mentioned how much I love where I work? (note: major sarcasm) So this morning, as I pulled in the parking lot, so did two fire trucks. I parked my car and started hesitantly walking toward the building. I didn't see any swarms of people being evacuated, so I proceeded toward the front door. I tried to catch the eye of the six firemen I saw suiting up and carrying oxygen tanks and an ax.... I tried to catch the eye of Bill, our security guard, to see if I should walk in.... they saw me, but they paid no attention. So I walked past them and entered the building, turning around once to say "should I go in?" but I got no response. I was thinking... I'm 9 months pregnant and can't move very fast, so if I go in, only to be told to evacuate quickly, I'm going to be ticked. But they didn't stop me, so it must be fine.

Well, then I get upstairs to my department and my co-worker walks in and says he came in the back door but they now have all of the doors guarded by security and they are not letting anyone enter or leave the building. What?!?!!! Christy and I tried to scope it out and get more information... we did manage to hear that there is a suspicious package they are investigating... but then we were quickly told not to tell anyone, and sure enough, they aren't letting anyone leave. It's now 2 hours later and our bosses (who get here later than anyone else) are all being held outside and can't come in... and we can't leave. They won't give anyone any information, but we're apparently on Lock-Down.

So Christy and I have decided that if it goes on much longer, I'll fake going into labor and we'll try to escape! Seriously though. I am pretty ticked off that they would let a 9 months pregnant woman enter the building when they already knew there was an issue, only to then tell me minutes later that now I can't leave. If my water breaks... I'd like to see them try to keep me here! And if there is some suspicious package... why hold us all here, why can't we just leave while they figure it out?! I love my job. I love my job. I love my job.
