I can't help it

Josiah and I stayed inside where it was warm today... but even though we don't have a snow shovel, just a regular one, Daddy ventured out to shovel our long sidewalk... and then he proceeded to shovel the other 3 people's sidewalks around our building... since there's a single woman, an 80 year old lady that lives alone and another older couple... he's such a good guy!  :)  He's gonna be sore tomorrow...but this time in a good way.  He says his back is feeling good.

And I can't help it... I think my little guy is too cute, so I have to share more pictures!

Bananas are yummy.
This is what I do when you tell me to "smile for the camera!"

It Really is Snowing!

Hampton Roads weathermen are definitely known for creating all kinds of hype about snow. They get us all excited enough to crowd the gas stations & grocery stores, get our hopes up for a day off of work or school and then we almost always wake up the next morning to find nothing more than a slight frost on the grass.

Well, this time they were surprisingly right!  At our house, we have about 6 inches and it's still falling.  That's more than I can remember getting here in the last 20 years. I know that's nothin' for some states, or even other parts of Virginia, but for Chesapeake... that's a blizzard.  Haha!   So everything is shut down, and we're just hanging out at home.  Josiah likes to look at the snow from inside, but he wasn't too happy with us when we let him sit in it outside.  But I can't blame him... I don't even have a snowsuit or coat for him!  Poor thing!

A Poop Post

I'm so over this crap... literally.  Poor Josiah's little intestines are just taking a while to heal from this bug he got... and that means we are going on 2 weeks of diarrhea.  Like at least 4 times a day... and it's getting really old. Besides the fact that I just want him to be healthy, and that it's super-stinky, and a mess to clean up, and we're going through diapers and outfits like he's a newborn... the worst part is that it has been waking him up multiple times in the middle of the night.  And on mornings like today, it woke him up at 2am and then again at 5am.  And 5am was apparently just too close to his normal 6am wake-up, so despite all my efforts to get him back to sleep, he was just ready to play.  5am is NOT mommy's idea of play-time!  Oh well... This too shall pass... and boy will we be glad!

Hanging in there :)

It's been a long 10 days to say the least... but here are a few pictures I managed to snap on my cell phone.  The last few are at MacArthur Mall... he was fascinated with the jumping water fountains!  Josiah's still not back to his normal healthy self... but we're hoping he will be soon.  He definitely had a stomach bug (as did Mike and I) last week... but now, 10 days later, he's continued to throw up about every 36 hours, and he doesn't have much appetite... he's only taking half of what he normally needs daily.  I'm pretty sure he's lost a little weight... and while he's thankfully got some extra stored up, obviously it's still not healthy for him to be losing, so we're praying we'll figure out what's going on soon.  It may be his reflux, or maybe it's just taking his body a while to fully recover from the bug... stressful, but the good news is he is happy and playful and otherwise seems well.

6 Months

We ended up at the doctor a week early for Josiah's 6 month checkup since the poor baby has gotten a yucky stomach bug. Then daddy got it yesterday.  And not wanting to leave me out, it got me last night.  It's the worst.  Poor Josiah keeps going up and down... the latest was 36 hours with no throwing up and then tonight it happened again.  He's such a trooper.  He's sleeping sweetly in Mike's arms right now, and though we're all feeling queasy, I can't help but smile at those two boys I love so much.

Other than this, Josiah has been doing great.  He's still off-the-charts, but this time the big jump was in his length. He's now 29 inches long, 24 lbs 15 oz, and has that Wellington head of 18 7/8 inches around!  :)  He's active and trying hard to crawl... getting up on his hands and knees quite a bit.  He loves to sit up, and has been trying more and more fruits & veggies.

Well... he's awake now, so I better go help out.

A Little Early

I was going to wait and post these pictures on his 6 month birthday (next Wednesday) but I stink at waiting, and I caved and put them up on facebook yesterday, so oh well!  Here are just a few of the adorable shots we got yesterday:

Two Front Teeth

We were singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" as it seemed Josiah had been teething for quite a while...and the poor boy needed some relief!  Well, on New Year's Day, that first tooth finally cut through, and today, the one right next to it has started to emerge! (Both on the bottom) He has actually been quite happy and easy to deal with, although naps seem short and he has to have something to chew on constantly.  Still, I hope that after this second one breaks all the way through that he'll get a little relief before the next ones come.  And those suckers are SHARP!  I wasn't thinking, and yesterday, I let him grab my finger and stick it in his mouth and when he bit down, I gasped because it hurt so bad... and come to find out, he had broken the skin and my finger was bleeding!

As much as it is bittersweet that he's growing so fast, I am really enjoying him at this age now, and I'm excited for what's to come!

This picture was a few days ago, before you could really see the second tooth:

Chatterbox

Josiah loves to be startled... well, actually there's a fine line between being surprised enough that it's hilarious and being scared too much and then he cries.  But his daddy is good at getting him going in the good way!  Here's a video of them laughing at each other and babbling tonight:
