To blog or not to blog...
I'm kinda torn on how whether or not I like blogging so much detail about our days. It's definitely an easy way to keep all of our friends and family posted on what's going on in our lives, and I enjoy just processing things by writing... but I'm finding that it's feels kinda one-sided to always be sharing the details of our days and not know who all is reading it. It seems that lately when I talk to someone I haven't talked to in a while, they already know what's going on with us, and while I must be the one that "told them" on here, it just feels a little weird. I guess I miss more of the personal contact: phone calls, emails, whatever. So I don't know yet. I'm definitely going to keep this blog, but maybe it'll take on a new twist. Do any of you other bloggers find that you actually feel a little LESS connected when you're writing more?

YES! GOD ONLY KNOWS WHO READ THESE THINGS!!! and only a few people comment. iduno. i like but i don't like. maybe you could require comments to view posts... blogspot should come up with that option. :) or to see who all viewed it. iduno. i'm kinda torn too but you blog way more than me. facebook is nearly the same way.. oh modern technology, how we love and hate it.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog and seeing the pictures of Josiah! I don't blog as often, but for me it's a great way to share what's going on in our lives with our family & friends, especially those who live far away.
ReplyDeleteHmm, good question. Personally I don't feel less connected because most of the people reading and the reason why I write so much, is for friends and family all over the place. I would miss your blogging about Josiah, cuz we don't live close, then again I could just look at pics on fb too!
ReplyDeleteI just made mine private b/c I found out a few people reading mine, I really wouldn't want them knowing all the stuff I blogged about. I emailed a bunch of my friends and added their emails to the list. I didn't know your email that's why I didn't add you...
ReplyDeleteAnd then for my friends who don't get to see Kingston or know what he's up to I created a blog just for him that I wouldn't mind people reading.
don't stop Melissa.........I may not comment often but you can bet I'm reading...it doesn't take much time ,does it........and OH how I love the pictures...
ReplyDeleteI just made a blog book of all my blogs for 2007 during Anna's first year and I know it will be a blessing to be able to easily go back and show her pictures and remember things we did. So I guess having a record for yourself would be another benefit to continuing.
ReplyDeleteI think your blog is great. You are one of the few that blogs on a regular basis. I'm amazed you find the time to keep up with the writing...I like it..I don't stalk...I usually try to leave comments...
ReplyDeleteI have intentionally chosen to not share my blog with family or friends, as I have several friend's who've voiced the same complaint. People love the ease in which they can check up on you, but their communication seems to decrease because they don't have to actually speak with you! :(
ReplyDeleteKeep it up! No, you don't have to share much detail, but it can still be interesting. I don't make mine very personal, or me-centric, because people just want to read about my kids. That's fine. It's just a great way to share photos, and once Josiah is doing more than just sitting, spitting, pooping, and eating yogurt, you'll have LOTS more to talk about. I actually do feel connected through blogs because I probably wouldn't hear from people as much, and I am updated on people I would probably have lost touch with with all these moves we do. So, keep it up! You could even just make it once a week so it's not a pain, but still fun.
