Chatterbox

Well, we've definitely moved past just new vocabulary to lots of phrases and sentences.  I love hearing what Josiah comes up with.  It's definitely nice to know what he wants, and I know that's a big reason why he hardly ever has temper tantrums, since he is able to communicate so well with us.  On the other hand, it also means he's quite opinionated on everything, and we have to remind him that just because he can say it, doesn't mean he gets it. :)  Here's a sampling of what we hear a lot:

"I love you THISSSSSSSS Much"
"I love you a hunch a bunch" (what I used to say at his age)
"Come on Mommy! Let's go!"
"Come on Daddy!  This way!"
"Ok, now Mommy's turn.  Now Daddy's turn.  Now Josiah's turn!" (He loves taking turns with us, and getting us to do what he's doing)
"What's it's name?" (He knows everything by name: people he just met, trains, types of vehicles, cartoon characters, whatever, it's crazy how much he can distinguish. Speaking of which, does anyone know the names for the characters on Yo Gabba Gabba - because he keeps asking me and I have no idea!)

"What's that?"
"That's for girls.  Not Josiah"
"Hey ______, share!" (He knows that other kids are supposed to share with him, whether he does or not)
"Want some lunch."
"Baby's crying.  Ok baby?"  (He hears a baby cry even if they are 6 rows away in a store)
"Do it later?  Maybe tomorrow?" (Whenever the answer is no)
"One more time.  Okay, last one" (When he's been told that's enough)
"How about knees."  (When told to sit down, and he negotiates that it's okay to be on his knees)
"Want some bread? Okay. Over there.  Josiah's piece.  Put in toaster.  Put butter on it."  (He understands -and narrates - the whole process)   If it was eggs, he says "Eggs.  Crack it.  Stir it up.  Dump it.  It's cooking."
"There's a big yellow bulldozer!  There's a red truck!  There's a white one!  School bus!  Another one!  There's a green car.  They're racing.  Dump truck.  Black jeep. Come on dump truck, let's go!"   (Driving down the road, he narrates EVERYTHING!)
"That's Mommy's chair, and that's Daddy's?  That's Grammy's.  That's Gramps' chair.  This Josiah's chair."  (pointing to where we all usually sit at dinner).

I could go on and on...I never thought my 20 month old son would be talking my ear off!  It's like having a teenage girl (only less drama!)!
